As long as I wasted most of the morning looking at G7 press photo, here are some of my favorites. My main takeaways are 1) that Boris Johnson and Justin Trudeau would be a perfect Matthau/Lemon tandem for an Odd Couple reboot; 2) the policy proposals (Russian gold, oil cap) have zero potential to change the Ukrainian situation and are evidence of deep fissures in the EU; and 3) either Draghi has something personal going on or, as the most perceptive of the group, he realizes that the West is close to getting stopped out on Ukraine.
No seriously, an unworkable oil price cap and pretending to keep Russian gold off the market, that’s our plan.
